What is Nespresso Pro?

Nespresso Pro is a system specially developed for business customers. The machines are built for large-scale operations, which is why they do well in office environments, the restaurant industry and the like. Nespresso Pro machines with their built-in dispensers make it easy to give your visitors or employees access to a large selection of diverse coffee varieties. It is not necessary to put the capsule manually in the machine yourself . In addition, Nespresso Pro machines can often make several cups at the same time, and have a much larger water tank than models typically found in kitchens at home.

Are the capsules different?

Nespresso systems are divided into 3 variants:

Nespresso Original: The well-known thimble-shaped variant that most people know. For this series you can buy cheap compatible capsules.

Nespresso Vertuo: A recent innovation for the coffee machine, which started in the American market, but which has since been launched in Europe. This system uses barcodes for automation and there are no compatible capsules for it.

Nespresso Pro: The capsules for this system are flat and round. Nespresso Pro machines are larger and include a dispenser system with different capsules already inserted. You can choose your drink without having to put a capsule in the machine manually.

Who is Nespresso?

Although the idea behind Nespresso has been around for over 30 years, Nespresso is still the world's most popular coffee capsule system. The system was developed in 1976 by Eric Favre, who was employed by Nestlé. The system was developed for the business market, but did not achieve much success in the beginning. In the years that followed the idea was further developed, and through several trials and tests, the concept was relaunched in the mid-80s. This time, the focus was instead on the private consumer, and it turned out to be a great success from the start. At the end of the last millennium, the machines were found in more and more homes, and Nespresso's customer club grew. Today, there are Nespresso shops in the largest cities across the globe, and several thousand people begin the day with a freshly brewed cup of Nespresso.

Coffee, culture and environment

Before a coffee capsule becomes your morning coffee, it has been through a long process that starts with the budding coffee bean. Coffee beans are grown in various countries around the equator, where the Arabica bean in particular thrives. Nespresso's mission is to create sustainable coffee experiences for its customers, and this is done through a wide range of initiatives that ensure stable conditions for the coffee farmers and the environment that contains the plantations. For generations the coffee plantations have been the only source of income in many poor areas, which is why survival has taken precedence over the environment and welfare. Over time this situation has created fertile ground for crime, corruption and clearing of rainforest. Through subsidies and education, the coffee farmers and their immediate society have now been given the tools to grow coffee in balance, preserving nature and widening access to education and medical care. It has led to fantastic coffee successes and a clearer conscience in its production.

Coffee Countries - Where is my coffee from?

Coffee beans are grown primarily in countries around the equator. Although there are more than 60 different varieties in the coffee bean family Coffea, it is primarily Arabica and Robusta that are drunk. The Arabica bean accounts for about 75% of the world's consumption of coffee, and is especially known for its sweet coffee taste. The Arabica bean thrives at high altitude, growing on mountain sides, and does not tolerate large fluctuations in temperature. Arabica is found mainly in South and Central America, as well as Indonesia. The Robusta bean is more resistant and is often used for espresso and in coffee blends because its taste is more intense and sour. Robusta is easier to cultivate in plantations and is produced in large parts of Africa and Asia.
